On March 14, Changyi Petrochemical successfully produced 4,500 tons of Phase 5 Notional Standard #98 gasoline for vehicle (National V), which is currently the highest level of the country. Thus Changyi became the first refinery enterprise of CHEMCHINA to produce top-level gasoline.
In order to optimize the product structure, Changyi established oil blending research group. With the production of top refine oil as development goals and through operation optimization, following the #92 (Beijing VI) gasoline which captured market shares successfully, Changyi successfully produced #98 (National V) gasoline for the first time, marking an important step of Changyi in the high-end oil production as well as creating favorable conditions for opening the domestic high-end oil market.
#98 (National V) vehicle gasoline is at the highest level after the implementation of the new National Standards, also known as "super gasoline". It is mainly used for limousines and sports cars. Due to the requirements of sulfur content less than 10ppm and strict limits on aromatics, olefins and oxygen contents, the production is extremely difficult and the process is complex. Compared with other gasolines, # 98 gasoline has three main advantages: #98 (National V) gasoline can provide better sense of power, i.e. better power performance; lower fuel consumption (improved fuel economy); reduced olefins can abate photochemical pollution caused by evaporative emission as well as the coking and deposition in engine air intake system to improve the performance of the engine.
