The ChemChina Petrochemical Corp (CPC) held a meeting to begin its purchasing reform project on Jan 8, 2012.

Yang Xingqiang, the vice-manager of CPC's parent company, ChemChina, was present at the meeting, along with 100 leaders and various staff members.

Yang told the gathering that he hoped CPC could set up a professional team of purchasing agents with support from consulting companies and introduce the world's best purchasing practices, and update its theories and improve management.

He also suggested that CPC take some hints from the BlueStar Group's and China Haohua Chemical Group's experiences with purchasing reforms.

Gao Zhiwei, CPC's general manager, gave a review of the company's purchasing work in 2011 and suggested that they increase cooperation with its parent company during the implementation process to improve overall purchasing performance.

The CPC has asked IBM's business consulting branch to help with the project, which is expected to be completed this coming July.
