ChemChina Petrochemical decided to promote the use of its EPC central purchasing information system at subsidiaries that did not have ERP, in August 2012, with the idea of transferring centralised management to operational controls and putting cost controls at centralised purchasing into effect. A six-member purchasing department panel visited Tianjin Petrochemical, on Aug. 17, to provide EPC central purchasing training and demonstrate applications. The training used nine modules, for example, systems management, coding management, and supply management. This gave front-line procurement personnel a complete, systematic understanding of the system. Executives from the ChemChina Petrochemical spoke with procurement staff and heard to their views, related to central purchasing. This training was part of the company’s effort to improve procurement quality and meet the various company demands.
