The Daqing Zhonglan Petrochemical got its DCC, styrene, gasoline, and diesel oil hydrogenation units up and running in recent years, it found that it needed more employees with certain theoretical and applied skills, and the only way to get them was through learning. So, it came up with culture and skills training programs, incentives, and promotions to help its League members develop themselves and the Youth League Committee arranged some activities to stimulate young workers, for example, an “Excellent Operator” title, or “Young Model Worker” title and skills competitions. This has gotten them to compete with each other and encouraged them to improve themselves.
Daqing Zhonglan also provides various on-the-job training programs to improve young workers’ professionalism and practical operational skills and to pave the way for future work and multitasking. More important, it has made more optimal use of its performance and pay evaluation system, which has prompted young workers to go all out for the company and themselves. It also has a career path for assistant operators, chief operators, monitor-technician, or department deputy-head and head to provide promotion possibilities for those who make an extraordinary effort.
Many young workers, such as Zhou Guiren and Wang Yan, have been promoted to mid-level leadership positions, in recent years.
