Recently, ChemChina Petrochemical held a review meeting to assess a feasibility study on purifying the fumes of catalytic units at Huaxing Petrochemical, Zhenghe Group and Changyi Petrochemical. Participants discussed relevant mainstream technology from the angle of running costs and equipment investment, and made plans to deploy future fume treatment at the three companies. The meeting signified the launch of ChemChina Petrochemical’s fume treatment program.

The new petroleum refining industrial pollutants emission standard will come into effect on July 1, 2014. The measure stipulates that sulfur dioxide and oxynitride emissions must drop by 27.2 and 33.3 percent, a big challenge for domestic petroleum refining companies at the moment. At the same time, local governments are increasing controls on fume emissions. The Dongying municipal Party committee and government have given top priority to catalytic cracking fumes desulfurization, compelling petroleum refining companies to meet the requirements on time.

ChemChina Petrochemical has given special attention to the fume treatment to meet the upgraded requirements of national environmental protection and to live up to its social responsibilities. It has made uniform arrangements, deployment and actions to raise work efficiency and reduce the costs of introducing technology. With the help of ChemChina, the company made careful analysis of various fume treating technologies, desulfurization benefits, investments and running costs before making a final decision. It is striving to meet the requirements of the new national laws and regulations in order to ensure that the unit can run steadily for a long time at desirable costs.
