The Shandong Huaxing Petrochemical (Group) Co has come up with a frugality plan for maintenance and repairs of its catalytic cracking equipment to cut costs and reach its energy-saving, environmental-protection, and efficiency goals. The plan calls for the company itself to handle any maintenance and overhauls that it can and not outsource them, to cut costs and increase efficiency. And competent workshops have volunteered to undertake these projects and have come up with incentives to encourage workers and technicians to be thrifty, by applying lean maintenance and overhaul techniques. Before shutting down any equipment, they prepare a lot of buckets, cans, and plastic containers for the waste oil, in case raw material supplies stop. Also under the lean maintenance principle, old, faulty equipment gets repaired or overhauled and reused whenever possible.
Technicians and workers have reworked some damaged mechanical seals and reinstalled them after repairs, which helps shorten the repair time and cut maintenance costs. At one workshop, some discarded rock wool insulating materials are handled with care when removing them from equipment so they can be reused when possible to cut costs and environmental pollution.
