The Bluestar Petroleum (Jinan) Co officially opened a 5,000-cubic-meter gas tank, on March 12, for the recovery, storage, and reuse of dry gas. Previously, this dry gas was discharged and burnt at the rate of about 9.3-cubic-meters/minute. The tank is part of a key renovation project for 2012, mainly for recovering dry gas in the pipeline system, as fuel for heating and steam. The tank will help conserve a considerable amount of energy and, just as important, help cut the amount of pollution.
This project was designed in March of last year and, by May, the bidding on equipment was completed, so that, by May 31, all the design work was finished. Construction work was organized in July, while major maintenance was being done, and infrastructure construction for the tank was completed in August. The equipment installation and work on the tank framework, compressor system, and pipelines started on Sept 4 and was finished by Sept 16.
This was followed by a 168-hour gas-proofing test that was completed on Dec 25, and a test run that was done by Dec 23, while the design, supervisory, and construction units did a joint check on the project on the same day. On Dec 28, some rectification work was done and the project was ready for operation on Dec 29, and the tank project was a complete success.
