The Zhenghe (Group) Co’s storage and transportation department cleaned and repaired its six storage tanks recently, and, at the same time, gave them an anti-corrosion treatment. The tank zone has demanding safety standards but the corrosion treatment cannot always be done. This can lead to rusting on the tank top, handrails, and ladders, and problems can suddenly emerge. So, the company only allows the use of copper brushes in removing rust to avoid ignition, if there are flammable materials in the zone. This time, Zhenghe took advantage of the tank overhaul and asked workers to remove any rust more thoroughly and apply paint in accordance with “anti-corrosion technology requirements”. It also assigned people to supervise the project at every step, and this has to be approved by the storage and transportation division. It has removed the rust and extended the corrosion-protection period for safer oil tank use and lower costs.
