Qingdao Anbang has always paid attention to energy conservation, emissions reduction and environment protection. Its oil and gas project was officially put into use in April 2013. The project cut pollution and production costs after three months of operation.
Before the project, the environment bureau of Qingdao’s Chengyang district often received calls or complaints from local people, reporting malodor and black smoke. After a field survey, it was found that the company did contribute to these problems, mainly because the company’s heavy oil fluid catalytic cracking unit put out about 30,000 tons of dry gas per year, which was discharged only after combustion and failed to be comprehensively utilized. It not only affected the peripheral air quality but was also a huge waste of energy.
Therefore, the company transformed its atmospheric and vacuum heating furnace to use dry gas as fuel. In this way, dry gas can finally be utilized. If the atmospheric and vacuum unit had an annual process capacity of 500,000 tons, it would cost 30 million yuan ($4.9 million) in fuel. Taking into account dry gas costs of 7.5 million yuan a year, fuel costs will decrease by 22.5 million yuan after the project kicks in. The oil and gas recovery project not only addresses the smoke, noise and waste gas problems caused by the combustion, but also prolongs the service life of the firing torch. It plays a positive role in bringing down costs, conserving energy and raising economic benefits. The project will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 139,500 tons per year.
