As of the end March, Daqing Zhonglan’s comprehensive energy consumption amounted to 72,000 tons of standard coal, down 9,000 tons year-on-year, reflecting the company’s good energy conservation work.

The company has vigorously pushed for energy conservation since the beginning of the year. It encouraged employees to save each drop of water, oil and steam and every unit of electricity. It studied various energy consumption control technologies based on continuous practices to bring down energy consumption. The company closed unit steam tracing during the daytime and opened it during night hours. It also used hot water to replace steam. It cut steam discharge and use of external heating lines to the bone, and adjusted steam use for heating with weather changes to strictly control indoor temperature. The company also controlled the heating time and temperature for oil unloading to bring down steam consumption. The total steam use in the first quarter was approximately 16,367 tons less than the same period last year, saving 2.46 million yuan ($394,239) and cutting coal use by 19.3 percent year-on-year.

The company adjusted circulating water use, effectively reduced fresh water supplement and steam use and thus cut fresh water consumption. The company’s circulating water consumption dropped 405,000 tons year-on-year in the first quarter, and fresh water consumption fell by 63,000 tons.

The company also enhanced field energy conservation management by making efficient use of pump, forced-and-induced draft fans and lighting devices. It also stepped up supervision on electricity leakage and waste. In the first quarter, the company’s electricity consumption dropped 356,000 kilowatts year-on-year, saving 210,000 yuan.
