The Australian government recently proposed to auction off 30 offshore blocks this year, including four blocks up for cash bidding, according to a media report in Melbourne.
Each of the four blocks covers an area from 200 to 600 square kilometers. Three of them are close to the production area in Carnarvon Basin and one is close to Ichthys condensate gas field at Browse Basin.
A total of 16 blocks sit in Carnarvon, eight in Browse, two in Bonaparte Basin, three in the Caldita and Barossa gas fields near the Arafura Sea, and one in Bight Basin.
