Tianjin Petrochemical has actively responded to the Tianjin government’s new environmental protection policy since 2013 by living up to its social responsibilities. The company introduced new equipment and conducted technical renovation to reduce fossil energy consumption, wastewater discharge and exhaust emissions. It saved more than 5,000 tons of standard coal in 2013, which not only protected the local environment but also increased economic benefits.
The company has conducted a series of major technical renovations in recent years to bring down energy consumption. Since the local government called on all parties to build a beautiful Tianjin, the company has optimized energy utilization; renovated the heavy oil catalytic unit’s raw material nozzle; upgraded the circulating water system, diesel heat exchange process, and steam dynamic and storage and transportation systems; and integrated the boiler’s deaerator. It achieved a comprehensive energy consumption of 0.479 tons of standard coal per 10,000 yuan ($1,613), down 7.6 percent year-on-year.
The company has stepped up efforts since 2014 to optimize production energy control, and has managed to bring coal and fuel oil use down to the lowest point in history. It continued to push ahead technical renovation to upgrade the oil uploading system, the aerostatic press’s aspirator and the external power supply system. Its efforts not only helped recover steam and reduce power production consumption, but also greatly cut exhaust gas emission and fossil energy uses. On June 4, the Tianjin government assigned a supervision team to check the company’s environmental protection work. The team spoke highly of Tianjin Petrochemical’s contributions to Tianjin’s environment improvement.
