Tianjin Petrochemical has focused on contractor safety management as part of its SHE work. It has paid attention to contract safety management qualification, personnel training, work bill and on-site supervision, achieving zero accidents in contractor safety management in the past seven months.
Tianjin Petrochemical first screened out unqualified contractors during the project bidding phase. It then reviewed the safety training of constructors. So far, a total of 191 constructors from 22 contractors have received safety training this year; all of them passed the checks. The company required contractors to assign a professional safety officer to strictly supervise fire-related operations as well as limit space work and electricity use. It also ensured that workers were qualified for certain special operations, such as welding and hoisting work. The company’s safety and environment department sent personnel to conduct random checks on field safety management to avoid substandard operations by contractors. It asked contractors to address existing problems within a prescribed period.
Tianjin Petrochemical’s efforts paid off, and there have been no accidents in its construction projects this year.
