Tianjin Petrochemical has strengthened SHE management and taken various incentive measures to encourage employees to participate in safety management. Its efforts also have effectively help avoid major equipment accidents. The company found and reported 507 SHE accidents from January to June this year and dealt out 10,260 yuan ($1,669) in prize money for workers with outstanding SHE work. It transformed 502 safety projects during the first six months of this year, improving safety management.
The company awarded employees who actively engaged in company safety management and found potential hazards. The move greatly stimulated employee enthusiasm in getting involved in SHE management. It successfully solved slide valve problems with the catalytic unit on Jan 25 and flue gas turbine malfunctions on Jan 30.
Tianjin Petrochemical has insisted on finding the root causes behind accidents and formulating reform measures. It drew lessons from SHE accidents and released them as safety information for all employees to study. At the moment, the company has finished renovation of 99 percent of SHE projects with potential hazards found during the first half of the year.
