A foaming agent storage vessel made of an obsolete refining tower by Changyi Petrochemical was recently put into operation. The company has insisted on making full use of waste. The vessel didn't incur any investment but helped to raise the company's firefighting capacity.
With expanding business, the previous protein foam extinguishing agent can no longer satisfy the firefighting requirements. Therefore, the company has decided to build high-standard fire extinguishing agent vessels and fill them with fluoro-protein foam extinguishing agent.
Reducing expenditures and making use of waste are one of the most effective ways to cut costs and maximize economic benefits. Building a new storage vessel needs at least 2 million yuan ($325,626), and the distillation column was out of service and took up space. So Changyi Petrochemical came up with the idea to turn the column into two standing tanks, each able to hold nearly 50 tons of foaming agents. The tanks can supply fluoroprotein foam to four fire trucks simultaneously and upgrade firefighting ability.
The company has insisted on maintaining equipment on its own to cut costs. It assigned professionals to repair equipment, relevant parts and special tools, and reutilize existing materials. The move has not only reduced costs but also improved employee's skills in equipment maintenance.
