Huaxing Petrochemical's DCC flue gas desulfurization unit went into operation on Feb 13. Relevant analysis showed that the unit brought sulfur dioxide concentration down to 31 milligrams per normal cubic meter and dust concentration to 9 milligrams. Both were above national standards, which require that sulfur dioxide concentration is no greater than 150 milligrams and dust 50 milligrams.
The key environmental protection project involved approximately 100 million yuan ($15.9 million) in investment. It applied Germany-based GEA Bischoff's technology, which can deal with 200,000-normal-cubic-meter flue gas per hour and 13-cubic-meter desulfurization wastewater per hour. The project is expected to cut 1,600 tons of sulfur dioxide and 700 tons of dust annually.
